MegaRAID Storage Manager Online Help System |
Installing MegaRAID Storage Manager Software on RHEL or SLES/SUSE Linux
To install MegaRAID Storage Manager software on a system running Red Hat Linux 4.0 and 5.0 or SUSE Linux/SUSE 9 and 10, follow these steps:
- Copy the MSM_linux_installer...tar.gz file to a temporary folder.
- Extract the file
MSM_linux_installer.....tar.gz
using the following command:tar -zxvf MSM_linux_installer...tar.gz
This creates a new disk directory.- Go to the new disk directory.
- In the
disk
directory, find and read thereadme.txt
file.- Install the software using either interactive mode or non-interactive (silent) mode:
- a - Complete installation - This installs all of the features of the product.
- c - Client Component Only - The storelib feature of the product are not installed in this type of installation. As a result, the resident system can only administer and configure all of the servers in the subnet, but it cannot serve as a server.
- s - StandAlone - Only the networking feature is not installed in this case, so the resident system is not a part of the network. This means the system cannot browse any other MSM servers in the subnet, and the MSM servers cannot recognize it as a server.
The-ru popup
command removes popup from installation list. You can also run non-interactive installation using the
RunRPM.sh
command. This installation helps you select any of the setup types, but if you runRunRPM.sh
, it installs the complete feature.
